This menu is the 'emergency' menu for the Covid 19 lockdown and reflects the much reduced numbers attending school.

Currently, meals are cooked and then sent to classrooms to be eaten. We don't expect any change to this system before September.

Free school meals

All children entitled to a free school meal (whether universal for Years R, 1 & 2 or benefits related) can request one each day.

Children not in school but entitled to benefits related free meals have been getting support through vouchers organised by the school. Children within Years R, 1 & 6 may not be eligible for vouchers on days that their year groups are in school as the expectation is they will have a cooked meal on site.

The voucher scheme is limited to those families who qualify for free school meals because of entitlement to certain benefits. This is NOT universally for children in Years R, 1 and 2 who can currently get a free school meal because of their age. If you get...

  • Universal Credit ; Income Support; income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance; income-related Employment and Support Allowance; support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999; the guaranteed element of Pension Credit; Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190); Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.

...then you may qualify for free school meals. Apply here : https://www.kent.gov.uk/education-and-children/schools/free-school-meals

The government has announced that meal vouchers will be available over the summer holiday period.

This is great news!

We haven't yet had any details shared about how this will work and whether or not it will just be an extension of the current system.
